Opera Mini, the fast and secure mobile web browser for Android users is now announcing the comeback of its popular “Shake and Win” campaign in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa. The opera browser “Shake and Win” campaign, which was introduced to celebrate the 2019 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON), was to allow users to win prizes.

During the football world cup, Opera browser gave lots of prizes and rewards to more than one million people in Africa during the “Shake and Win” campaign. This comes after Opera browser, re-launched the “Shake and Win” in Africa last year which was well received as Opera browser got a spurt in its users both in Kenya and Nigeria.

In its effort to bring joy to Africans, more so Kenyans, Nigerians, and South Africans, they have re-introduced the campaign. The campaign will see many of its users walk away with gifts among which are cash vouchers, airtime from popular local network providers, and also a brand-new phone.

When does the “Shake and Win” campaign start? 

Starting on 5 June 2023, users can readily access the “Shake and Win” from their Android phones from the Opera Mini. The campaign will run until 3 July 2023.

How The Opera browser “Shake and Win” works

Users shall be able to see a floating green button on the nearly bottom right part of their browser on the start page. Thereafter, the individuals shall be invited to shake their mobile phones for a chance to win a puzzle. Users are required to collect all six puzzles in order to be able to claim the price. Each player is entitled to at least one shake per day. You will be allowed to shake in intervals of four hours from your previous shake.

If you run out of daily shakes and you need more shakes, the only way to get them is by sharing your invitation link. By doing this you will earn more shakes when your friends join the campaign using your link.

Guided steps on how to participate 

  • Download Opera Mini from Play Store.
  • Open your Opera Mini. The page shown below will appear after which you will click the green button on the bottom left.
  • This will automatically bring you to another screen as shown below after which you shall be required to press the continue button.

  • This will automatically prompt you to the shake page after which you will be required to either shake your Android mobile device or simply click on the tap to shake button after which your gift will reflect on the page. You will now be able to see a button which you shall be allowed to save your progress. Click on “Save your progress”

  • The page will now prompt you to sign up. After filling in your details and reading the terms and conditions, you shall click on “Create an account” after which you shall be required to prove the identity of the phone number of the phone number you used by keying in a One Time Password (OTP) which shall be sent to your phone number.
  • You shall now be able to see the main page of the giveaways from where you will see the puzzle you will have tackled.

On the same page from which you can see your rewards, click on the gift icon then proceed to click earn more shakes.

  1. You will then be able to see the refer a friend button from which you will get a referral link. Copy the referral link and share it with your friends in order to increase the number of shakes.

What do I do if I want to redeem the prize?

 After completing the six puzzles:

  • Open the Opera browser on your Android device and go to the “Shake and Win” promotion website
  • Click on the prize you want to redeem from the “Available prizes” section
  • Follow the prompts that you will see on the screen. You may be required to share your contact details or other information to claim your prize
  • Once you have completed the redemption process you will be notified when and how your prize will be delivered to you. 

What happens if I win a mobile phone

In instances where one has unlocked all six puzzles, the following shall be applicable to the contestant

  • The contestant shall be liable for the cost incurred in collecting prizes from the specified area
  • The contestant shall produce a legally accepted document as a form of identification (ID or passport)
  • If the details in contestant registration does not conform to the presented documents, Opera will hold the gist until he or she satisfies that he or she is the correct recipient. 

What happens if I win airtime

  • If you win airtime you may be able to claim it instantly, depending on the terms and conditions of your mobile network provider. Some may require you to complete a verification process before you can claim the airtime.
  • In some cases, you may need to wait for a specific period of time before you can claim your airtime prize.

What happens if I win a voucher

If you win a voucher, you will need to redeem the voucher code to claim the prize. Once you have won the voucher it will be added to your “prize wallet” section of the “Shake and Win” promotion website.

To redeem the voucher, follow the steps below:

  • Go to the “Shake and Win” promotion website and login into your account
  • Click on the voucher prize you want to redeem in the “prize wallet” section.
  • Follow the instruction given to get the voucher code
  • Copy the code
  • Following the instructions given, go to the website where the voucher can be redeemed
  • Enter the code or provide it to the store personnel to claim your prize

Take note of the terms and conditions as some vouchers have some restrictions

Can I win a gift more than once?

Yes. Opera Browser’s main aim is to enable it user’s win as many gifts as possible. However it should be noted that some of the prizes may have limits. This may at times tend to limit someone from winning the gifts multiple and multiple times. After winning the prize, you should be willing to follow their steps in order to redeem the prizes.

What else do i need to know?

  • The promotion runs for a certain period of time and gifts are available while stock lasts Make sure to participate early enough to enable you win the prize you want
  • Each prize you win is subject to its terms and conditions.It is therefore advisable to read the terms and conditions in order to identify what is required.
  • The details you use to claim the prizes should be the same as those that you used while opting in to Opera browser. Failure which will result in suspension of your prize.
  • Opera’s “Shake and Win” campaign may fail to work due to some technical problems. Kindly note that Opera browser may suspend or cancel  the campaign anytime at their discretion.
